Aerobic Weightlifting for Beginners

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:00 PM PST Virtually 
Who is this class for?

This class is for total beginners to weightlifting with a barbell.  Class will proceed as if you have never picked up a bar in your life.  There will be a lot of instruction on proper form.

What is Aerobic Weightlifting?

Aerobic exercise is light activity you can sustain over long periods of time, such as jogging. 

In aerobic weightlifting,  we lift lighter weights for more reps than we would normally do for strength training.  This is a great way to introduce people to lifting with a barbell because we work on and lock in our good lifting form!  It also makes for a better virtual class because you're less likely to injure yourself with these lighter weights.  (I would never attempt to teach a beginner power lifting without being right there next to them.)

I've always said that aerobic weightlifting is the "gateway drug" to strength training - eventually you may want to take things to the next level!

Is this like Bodypump?

Bodypump is an aerobic weightlifting program by Les Mills.  My class will be similar, only with MUCH more attention to proper form.  (We'll learn to do real proper squats too!)

What equipment do I need?

You will need an aerobic barbell set and a step bench (or something that will work similarly.)

About the instructor:

My name is Lauryn and I've been doing various weightlifting programs on and off for a decade.  Although I haven't taught this class much in the past couple years, due to the pandemic I am coming out of retirement to offer this class to all those folks that are stuck at home!  I'll be suffering the soreness right there with ya.
